Ok I'm going to try this
Jun. 4th, 2001 12:51 ambecause I feel more icky by the second, but I'm waiting for my cold meds to kick in. They didn't have my usually meds because they have that ingredient that may cause strokes. *sigh* _I_ didn't have a stroke, why shouldn't I use it? (apparently it happens the first or second time you take it)
So, the weekend:
Friday - couldn't sleep til after 4 AM, woke up late. Went out to Saturn, had part replaced, picked up paycheck, cashed paycheck, went home to wait for Kazama. Found out the funeral procession will be passing my area, so we need to leave. Turns out he made it down the highway right before the blockade. Whoo hoo. SO we get going about 1:30. Have a stop or two, for snackage and drinks, and pee. Get into the city about 5:30, we ran into quite a bit of traffic. Find hotel. impress Kazama. He can't stop looking around as we check in, very continental. As he said "Tia, you done good." Actually I have to thank Deb for the suggestion, she and Nick stayed here, and it's a really good deal too. So I go to park the car, sending K up to the room with my stuff. The parking lot is about 3 blocks away, but are very nice and the hotel is giving us a reduced rate of $20 a day, which, again, is pretty cool. I am not impressed with the room, it has a large painting on it but it's very blah, not much in the way of decor. But that's what I'm paying for. The bathroom is private, clean, and well stocked, with a weird bathtub I was afraid of. You had to climb INTO it, like step UP. It was kewl tho. So we immediately regroup, and decide on dinner. I started reading in my Frommer's book about things in the area. We decided on a Japanese noodle house about 8 blocks away, and walk out. We actually FIND the place, and it was so worth it. K had a noodle broth, and I had beef sticks and noodles (which I should have thought better about, I needed more to eat and didn't get many noodles) and green teas ice cream for about $30 or $40 for the both of us. We continue to walk around, mostly towards St Mark's to drop in on Ed. It starts to rain and we stop to buy umbrellas, and me a toothbrush, because that was what I forgot. She wanted like 6 bucks, and I said no frickin way. Ok walk to Freaks, see Ed (*yay*) and find all the other stores closed. So we head back to the hotel, via a clothes store suggestion from one of Ed's stoner friends, which we never found, but K found me a great deal on a toothbrush travel kit. Ed also gave us some idea of an industrial night, so we decided to head back to the hotel. Did I mention the hotel has Internet kiosks? Good for K because he has some dumb NYU friends who can't figure out how to use a phone. So he figures they may e-mail him. We get back up to the room, to regroup, and K says "Uh, Tia where'd we get champagne?" I forgot that was part of our deal, along with brunch on the house. So we pop the bubbly, start drinking and go downstairs. We can't find any reference to the damn club, and by now are feeling the drive and the walk. Oh and for me, the alkyhol, cause I got trashed. I wouldn't leave the damn stuff alone. I decided I was hungry and badgered K into going out for a walk to find food. Lucky for me, there was a little 24 hour sandwich place, and the counter guy thought I was cute and silly, so I had grilled chicken and juice, which I poured the remainder of the champagne into. *giggle* After that I pretty much passed out *lol* such a lightweight. I did wake up a lot, being in an odd bed, and hearing odd noises (not you K) Plus the alkyhol wore off leaving me sickly and thirsty.
I'm going to continue this tomorrow. I came home with a stuffy head, probably from the rain the other night and the lack of rest all weekend. But, for the curious, I didn't get any, I didn't find anyone cute, and I missed Aimee, but she wants me to come back and she'll introduce me around. I at least talked to all my NYC friends (including Captain Charming) And hopefully will be seeing them again soon. I'd like to take Ed and his GF to dinner, and go out with Aimee.
I'll finish this later, promise.
