tiamatladyI've been meaning to add I feel VERY Single Whit Female'd lately.
I swear I mention doing something, or going to do something and there's a swarm of chickies doing the EXACT SAME THING and posting about it on my friends of! It's a wee bit disturbing.
But it's getting annoying. I mean I accept I have a lot of neat ideas that are NOT spawning straight out of my head, and I'm not original in any way shape or form (hel-LO black hairdye??? Whoa!) But GEEZ get your own fandom already!
I knew a girl once who LOVED all things purple. I also like purple. I have purple clothes, am drawn toward purple stuff,. even had a purple car. I look good in it, due to my coloring, and my hazel eyes especially
She was SO MAD when she saw my purple car. Anytime I wore or had something purple she took it PERSONALLY. Since purple was HER thing. One time, we were at Canobie Lake and all of us took a picture I at one of those Old Fashion studios as a remembrance. I was footing the bill and picked outfits first, and I picked the purple one. She spent TEN MINUTES telling me how HORRIBLE I looked in it. Ruthie almost decked her, and everyone else was seriously "Calm down dude, she looks fine" I decided it was too small on me, and I didn't like how it looked so I gave it up, and wore something green (also one of my good colors) SHE grabbed it out of my hands and squeezed into it. The joke was - her sunburned face looked beet red in the thing, it was one of those bright purple whore shirts. She looks like an eggplant with her burned face and squeezed into the top which was WAY too small for either of us. I still have that picture, I'm happy to show it to anyone who thinks I'm just being mean.
It didn't help that she was BatShit Crazy. Some of my friends were friends with her and I was as social as possible but she just tasted Wrong. I'm really glad I don't have to deal with her anymore. Just everything I liked to do or had interest in, she was MORE into it, it was HER thing and I was a BIG MEANY COPY CAT. *rolls eyes* Yep I bought my car just to get her goat. My $20,000 fuck you. Oi.
I know that was long winded, but there's the point. THAT'S what I get in the whorl SWF thing. I'm gother than thou, I'm more pagan than thou, I'm more popular with the boys than thou. It just doesn't occur to them that this isn't a game - at least, I'm not playing. This is what and how I am.
of course I will say my New Rocks kick all kinds of ass. *grins* I do love that I'm the only one that has them, that I've seen. It would be SO awesome to see someone else with them (especially a certain redhead in a pair of Red ones. *squeee*) Hey, I said I try and be myself - not that myself isn't arrogant and self centered *grins*

Date: 2007-09-30 12:23 am (UTC)This oneupmanship has me - well freaked, some. There's competative, sure. I think that's healthy. But the whole "I've got more purple that you!" or "I'm GOTHER than you!!" or "My hair is a deeper black than YOURS!" it's just - weird.
It's up there with "Be nice to everyone, and pretend you get along." There's polite, and there's nice, and I'm required to be one, and the other is choice. It give me the shakes.

I strive to be a gentleman and have compassion for everyone I meet, but I wouldn't pretend to get along with someone when I don't - that won't benefit either of us. Sometimes compassion means telling someone they're being an asshole, particularly if they're being an asshole to someone else.

Date: 2007-09-30 02:31 am (UTC)the girlie in my story is one of the reasons I really draw the line - I tried to give her more than one chance to get to like her - my friends were good friends with her. It doesn't sit right that I went to her house and hung out with her. Not alone, but partaking in her social generousity.
At least I know my feelings were reciprocated - she hated my guts. *evil grin*
