Talk to me of Verizon versus TMobile versus AT&T (formerly Cingular)

I want to hear the shite as well as the praise. Looking to see who has what phone, and how you like it as well. For the first time I don't really have a Kyocera phone option, and Motorola isn't too thrilling to me right now.

I'm going to do my due diligence, but I'd like some current stats to also weigh in.

(I'm thinking of switching from Verizon to TMobile. I have an Icon I need to make at home for this. T-Punkt. *grins*)

ETA - I just wrote this in response to a comment by [livejournal.com profile] depotmode and I think it would be useful here -

....If I can't get reception in my living room, it's not worth it. I have a Virgin Mobile SIM for the UK, which has pretty decent rates, and excellent roaming coverage throughout Europe.

I'm pretty sure what I REALLY want is One Phone to Rule Them All - unlocked, and I just switch out SIMs when I hop the Pond.

The network that gives that to me, plus coverage of D00M! is teh wiener.

t-mobile: reception sucks indoors, almost no coverage in boonies. Flexible, do not force you to buy their ringtones (depending on the phone, you may have some hoops to jump). If your phone breaks and you are in a bind and can get yourself an unlocked phone, you can just swap sims.

From a GSM network perspective, from what my soon-to-be boss told me, AT&T's network is the best when it comes to country-hopping. Given that this company's employees are spread out all over the world--and that it's a trade association that monitors standards for mobile wireless devices--I'd put a small bit of stock into that. ;)

From a pure phone standpoint, I haven't the foggiest. :P

I have to deal with AT&T/BellSouth here for a landline (security system), and they suck balls. All around. I would never recommend them...though if I wind up staying with this company for awhile and need to travel it may become necessary to revisit. *sigh*

I'd go with TMobile...if you can get service in your living room. ;)

i've had cingulatt for a few years now. i switched to them when the razr came out, since it was pretty.

i'm not a demanding phone user at ALL though. i don't really leave major metro areas, i don't talk much, i don't text much, etc...

i've had no issues with them, nor do i rave about them. they are a basic utility provider for me, and they serve adequately.

i've got 2 phones. a blackberry through verizon and a razr through att. i haven't been anywhere that one has had better / worse service than the other.

everything i've ever heard about t mobile has been that they are great when you are in their coverage area, but that area is one of the most limited out there.
