This Paris Hilton shit.

If _I_ were the judge:

- Put her butt in her house. It's DANGEROUS to OTHER PEOPLE to put her in jail, there's distraction, and misuse of personnel. She's too much of a circus attraction to have her there. Slap the bracelet on her and make her stay, somewhere out of the way.

- slap a GAG ORDER on her, her lawyers, her family, her people (can't control everyone, but we'll leave that to "reasonability") She's allowed to say "I'm grateful that we've come to a solid conclusion, I will do my time, and thank everyone for their support" and the occasional "Paris is doing well" updates. Maybe even how she's bettering herself by studying and reading. But NO talk about her, and no advertising for things she's going to be doing.

- EVERY TIME ANYONE connected to her breaks the gag order, by saying ANYTHING to ANYONE in public more than "She's doing well, thanks for asking", add another 30 days to her house arrest/gag order. (this doesn't count the media, who can speculate all they want. But when her parents want to go off on camera about how "unfair" things are, let's show you some unfair.)

Let's see how well the media machine does when it's SHUT THE FUCK DOWN.

Imagine her being stuck, in her house, and NO PUBLICITY ALLOWED on her for however long it takes. I'll bet it's months. How long will it take for some other dumbass (Britney, you sit down and SHUT UP don't let that be you) to cause a media sensation, and everyone forgets about Paris and her hootchie? Isn't that the far better punishment than risking lots of lives and supplies with her ass in jail???

Yeah, I'm a fucking genius. Why aren't I in charge of everything yet? *evil grin*

ETA - Look at all the police and court resources used JUST TODAY to deal with her? How many crimes went unnoticed? How many people are hurt and waiting for help? because the public has to deal with this media whore and her circus. Seriously - shut her down, make her stay, and ignore her. If it must be jail, maybe more like a Club Fed, where they have the means to watch her, without overly stressing the system. Because if something happens to her soft white ass in jail? Oh BOY are we in for an onslaught of misuse of public funds. And it's sickening. Open your wallet and pay for it, and LEARN something dammit - you're not all powerful, and we're tired of your nonsense.

I think that they should've just left her on house arrest -- the public outcry was reaching a point where she was actually being put on the same level as OJ. All the money in the world wouldn't have helped her then -- she would be on house arrest, but when she was off treating her as a celebrity would've been dead. Any show that featured her would've failed and she would suddenly be shunned. :)

on the other hand, driving drunk because you think you can do whatever you damn well please, and because no one has really ever told you otherwise, is also dangerous to other people.
