Greetings from Las Vegas!

I guess I didn't post it loud enough. *grins*
dredpiratebunny and I left Wednesday for a sojurn to the promised land. Things have been a bit tired and hectic, and this is my first opportunity to email ro LJ. Mock me not, for this is the land of do whatever you want, and right now, since I feel I woke up WAY TOO EARLY, I'm taking the time to get caught up. I'm also keeping an eye on a work situation, so I'm not a total goofoff.
So beneath the cuts are some of the stories I can share. After all, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. *evil grin*
So, It started with me working a full day. R stayed over on Tuesday to facilitate going in early and also leaving her car securely parked at home. I got up early, per my last post, to drop her at the T. Work was teh Suck, my boss effed up my game, I got nothing I wanted to done, but some other things I needed to get done reprioritized for me. I decided to leave a bit early to run for some foodstuffs for M. Good idea, actually. I got home exactly where I wanted to, popped the rest of the stuff in my bag, and get M and all the luggage into the car and to the Logan Express. The nice man loaded all the luggage without any bitching, and we were on our way. R texted to say she was on her bus too. We got to the airport about the same time, on different floors. I got all our things onto a cart, and to the correct gate, she met me there. Checkin was painless, we're both under the weights for baggage. Security was painless, since we went in a different set of gares than everyone else. We flirted with the id guy, and passed through xray no issues. They gave more flack to the old lady behind me. We headed for the pub area for some munchies and beers, then back to the gate for the plane. Flight 1 was fairly uneventful, with us getting no seatmate and being able to spread out.
Please baby jeebus, may I NEVER have to fly through Minneapolis/St Paul again. It's so BORING, and just as cold. And the noodle place in the airport closed before I could get anything. The people there were creepy, but I realized most of the were getting on OUR connection. Icky icky.
Flight 2 - no so uneventful. We had a seatmate, at least a nice THIN girl so we had room. But we also had the group of drunken asshats behind us, who proceeded to get even more drunk. The sent the stewardess over to get us drinks and pass notes. _I_ said no, mostly because I didn't want a drink on the plane, but maybe I felt more coming in, and when the drunked argueing with the dumb Southern girl started happening I was glad I had nothing to do with them. We really thought there'd be a fight before we got off the plane. I hope some of them got the cops called on them.
McCarron is nice, but obviously crowded at all times. We get our luggage - my fucking big case has a broken handle! I'm SO pissed! This is a very secure nice piece, and I will have to get it fixed, or replaced. I can't do anything til I get home, and if they want to bitch about the handle and getting it around on the way home, I'll point out it was THEM who broke it. I'm pretty sure it's replaceable. I'm just pissy about it.
So after geting the luggage, we head to the cabs. They do the line thing like NYC, and our cab was roomy and clean and the driver polite, and obeyed our urge to take a route that was fast and cheap. We struggle to the front desk, stupid heavy luggage and 6 pairs of shoes *grins* We check in, I do some juggling, and stay in the non smoking room we'd decided on. It sucked that Internet wasn't available. We settle a bit, go out to the 24 hour cafe for a bite, which was an AWESOME club sammich for me, then hit the bar for a drinkie. Open containers are allowed out and about, and we took our drinkies to the room, mostly to get away from the rude woman who THOUGHT she was being clever about getting out seat. The bartender was a HOTTIE, but I was too tired to do anything about it anyway. Besides these women were icky, I'm not worried about it. *grins*
Then we start getting ready for bed. BOTH of us has been up almost 24 hours. R is doing a hairdye thing, that requires a shower. STarting the shower gets a "YIKE! EEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWW!" Some ICK comes out of the shower/tub, and the drains not draining. This is now the topper. The room was small and a bit shabby, we're on the second floor, with a loverly view of the parking lot and the Hooters hotel. Leaving the window open isn't an option. That was it.
I called the front desk, a bit drunk and aplogetic. I said "Look We're really not happy, I'm not feeling secure, and this tub thing is the kicker. Can we change rooms?" The nice manager said, please let me upgrade you, I'm marking your room out of order, and bring your things to the front desk, we'll have a new room ready for you.
Let me tell you that was long walk of shame. We're both drunk, I'm half undressed and we crammed items in our bags. And it was a long freakin' walk too!. But we trundle up and get the new room, whose elevators are WAY better located, and this one is near them. It's a total upgrade. TOTAL. The room is bigger, I have wirless access, and best of all - the picture below is our view.

That's the Excalibur. And yes, that's the roof of the hotel. BIG WAY BETTER view from before. I don't really have any fear of strange men climbing in, although I DID just see a worker out there.
I think last night deserves it's own post. I really want to take a shower and there's some organization that needs to happen. I'm taking it easy today, we're doing the pool I think. We're hoping to see Bite tonight, a vampire theme show, in addition to the local goth night.
I will say last night I saw Cirque du Soliel's Ka and I am in love. With the show, with the bad boy lead *swoons* and the lion maned supporting character, BOTH of which flirted and waved from the stage at teh Hotness that is R and I.
Oh and by the way - those of you that remember my birthday at ManRay - THAT kind of drinking is happening. SO having a great time!
More later.......

Date: 2007-01-26 08:11 pm (UTC)Honestly, unless you can afford to just dump the money, don't do it. Food and drinks are a hair expensive, and we're spending money like water on just everyday stuff.
But it IS teh awesome, and a package would work out well. Remind me to talk to you about the Strip versus Downtown, and research versus what I'd do now differently.
There is the one thing - it's about a ten minute walk from our room to Ka. It'll be about 15 minutes to Zumanity. O is up the Strip, might have to take the shuttle we bought unlimited tickets to *grins*

Date: 2007-01-26 08:40 pm (UTC)Can I sneak in a quick tax question without deserving a smack? If I follow the same forms I used on Turbotax last year, I shouldn't have a problem filing my taxes, right?
Anyway, I hope you're having fun. I'm totally jealous that you get to go to Cirque shows I haven't seen!
Take care,

Date: 2007-01-26 08:53 pm (UTC)What size are you now in Shirts - I wanted to get you one of the awesome Ka shirts, but they look like they run small.
actually, I'll bet you'd like the DVD more - let me see if that's the show, but it NEEDS to be seen live, it was wonderful!
Re: taxes, in theory yes, if you need help I can arrainge to be available. I don't believe your tax situation has changed drastically. I'm happy to look them over, too.
Off to the pool!

Date: 2007-01-26 09:25 pm (UTC)I'm a medium in shirts now, although there I may be a large since Cirque does run small. You don't have to buy me anything, though. I love Cirque but their stuff is so expensive!
No, my tax situation is the same. Do you want to come out one day and hang out? I can have someone watch Jonah while we do taxes and then I'll take you out to lunch or dinner or whatever. Let me know when you're back in town!
