A realization

I can't get into Firefly because the first place I saw Captain Mal (Nathan Fillon) was as Caleb on Buffy. The OTHER place I saw him was as a dickhead ex bf in Blast From The Past.

I.E. - Both asshat characters, which left an impression.

Hence Mal NEVER looks trustworthy in the slightest, and I don't believe the character.

I could have had this same problem with Zoe, as Gina Torres was Jasmine on Angel, but I'd long been watching her in Hercules, the Legendary Journeys as Nebula, and the maligned boobfest Cleopatra 2525 (OMG, don't get me wrong it was total fluff, but she's hott in it)

Also, a list of activities I refuse to or can't see myself getting "into" regardless of how popular it gets. Not a statement on anyone else's being involved, just on my disinterest:

1) Bellydance
1a) ESPECIALLY "gothic" bellydance
(if you'd seen the same number of fat, untalented women I've seen, you'd understand. I'm NOT talking about anyone recently, this is an old bias. If you've noticed, I mostly avoid anything to do with bellydance. That would be why.)
2) Roller Derby
3) Burlesque, especially amateur shows and classes (with the exception being Dita Von Teese. You'd have to be dead not to enjoy b00bies like those)

More as I think of it.

I should be off to bed, I'm thinking there's a meeting tomorrow, despite the lack of announcement, because I think OM is just being a big bitchface. Either way, I show my ability to be a team player and not an asshole. So Nyah on her. But I wasn't sleepy, so I'm still poking around. Getting there now though.

C'mon Firefly was awesome from the opening song to the ending credits. The movie zipped it all up nicely too. I so wish that show did better in the long run. But then again... short and sweet. At least they didn't have to jump the shark and burn out like some other shows.

1. Bellydance. ...as a guy I simply have to approve.
1a. Gothic bellydance. You'd think, having the ex-perience I do, that I'd hate this but honestly I still think it's hot.
2. Roller derby I have yet to really check out but chicks beating the snot out of each other on wheels? Maybe it's a guy thing but again. h0ttness A++
3. Burlesque. I think the amatuer shows are better only in that it's people that we know and can either a) make fun of or b) see in a whole new sexy light.

1- Me/=Guy. Seriously, one too many bad experiences. Nuff said. Also, it seems to come with a philosophy, usually woman-power, that frankly, I don't have time for. I don't want you to sell me a way of life, I just want some excercise. Kinda like anything that comes with a guidebook, like certain martial arts. You know what? I just want to hit people, not think about the moral repercussions. Thanks. *grins*

1a- nothing to do with the goth, see 1)

2- it WAS hot before everyone and their mother is on a team with a clever name. It's gotten tired.

3- I don't want to see my friends look silly. I REALLY don't want to see strangers and people I can't stand in states of undress. Again
me/=guy. I can't put down the ickies just because of b00bies. Well unless it's Dita. Saw her in the worst Worcester dive once. So Hot.

And also, see the Derby thing - everyone and their mother is doing it. it's old hat, and tired. It used to be special.

but then again, I think that way about Goff and goff clubs. I just need a bench to sit on whereever I go. *snerk*
