A week between postings
Jul. 17th, 2006 08:33 amand I'm posting fluff *grins*
I'm concerned with what goes on in my head. Yesterday was - bad. I'm SICK AND TIRED of working all the time, and having no time to do my OWN stuff (you wouldn't believe how FAR behind I am) or stuff for friends, since I "have" to do the paying work first. Especially demanding and stupid are those who don't pay me ENOUGH, or don't make it easier for me to do it. I mean doesn't it make more sense for me to work on it maybe a little at a time, while at work so I'm in the "work" mode??? Argh! And then there's the one who knows NOTHING, is a procrastinator, and expects me to drop everything and make piddly changes that make no sense. For HALF the price! Sheesh! I really should just quit.
Anyway, this was supposed to be fluffy - let me write about my new shower head. See in my family there's a tendency to say "well, this is 'Good enough' it works, I don't need to replace something that works, let me wait until it breaks." Which makes for EXCESSIVE packratting, since I have TONS of stuff that is still "good" just of no use to my current incarnation, so I can't throw it away, as I could use it. It comes from older generations who "made do" due to lack of funds or accessibility of items. That was and is true - I REALLY should be using what I have instead of buying new. But when something isn't quite "right" what does one do?
I've HATED the shower head in the shower forever. I think the pressure sucks, I wanted more massage options (after being in hotels with them) AND I wanted an extension hose, to help in cleaning the glass doors. It would have been VERY helpful when my nephew was younger - he was afraid of the shower. Which is also typical of the family gene pool *grins* So I found one I liked, at Target of all places, and did the switch yesterday. It's FABULOUS!
It's a dual head (heh) one directly attached to the wall pipe, with 4 flow controls, AND a head (heh!) attached to a hose. ONe can use one, or the other, or both, there's yet another switch which lets you choose.
The water pressure is AMAZING! I swear it cut my shower time by 5 minutes. I don't have to wait for the old pressure to rinse my hair, it's pretty close to instant. I know it's such a little thing, but really, it's a pleasure! And to think I almost didn't buy it, I had cleaned the old head (heh!) with some of that CLR stuff and it had improved flow somewhat, and I thought "hey, this is "fine"" But this shower doesn't LEAK like the old one did. Now I know I should have replaced it a LONG time ago. I can't WAIT to tell teh Unit, Ms "why bother, it's FINE." *snerk*
OK, I have now wasted the time recovered by my shorter shower. I totally want to get to work on time, and part of this checking now is to prevent me checking later. I need to stay off the Internet. At least til lunch or so. I can't be trusted.

Date: 2006-07-17 12:44 pm (UTC)yesterday I came across the short stack of books you claimed long long ago. I take it I should tote them along next Friday? (I will be going if there's a Friday afternoon meetup.)

Especially coming on the heels of someone they OUSTED, who actually made some fucking sense, and trusted you to do the job you're, um, PAID for.

Date: 2006-07-20 01:42 pm (UTC)You notice there was never any public ranting about that!
(maybe I should lock this down, I don't really want to hurt anyone's feelings, but I do need the rant away!)
And yes, the outgoing person made lots of sense, and helped me be more accountable. AND fed me tea. *grins*
*hugs back*
