I heard some banging outside, and people walking up and down the hall. But it was the *beep**beep**beep*ing that really got my attention. I was all "WTF?" So I got up, I'd been chatting and considering putting away my laundry, but I got up, finally put away the ice cream, and went to the door.
To find nothing. No people, no open doors, nothing.
I did, however, smell gas. Faintly. I figured someone's pilot had gone out, as mine does from time to time, and came back inside.
THEN I heard people again, the beeping was back, and NOW it sounded like they were taking a door out.
I go BACK to the door - this time my across the hall neighbor Candice is outside. The door that leads into the building is open. (my front door is techinically in the foyer of the first floor, opens right into the landing where the front door is. This is a comfort door, to keep cold from entering and heat from escaping. Or vice versa in summer) The smell of gas is QUITE strong.
Seems the beeing was a "sniffer" and the gas levels in the hall was high enough that the super called the cops and an ambulance to break the door in.
Yikes!
BUT. My nosy DOWNSTAIRS neighbor (who is trying to sell their one bedroom unit, for MORE than Teh UNit wants for the this TWO bedroom unit, and it's nextdoor to the Laundry room/sump pump. Yeah, not the smartest resident!) says that the unit owner was taken to the hospital yesterday. Well it seems he left the burner on. I'm ASSUMING it wasn't on and LIT, since I'm sure that would be a heat and fire thing, as opposed to a gas thing, but *shrugs*
It's never quiet around here!
Should get to bed soon. I need to put my laundry away first. I deliberately dumped it on my bed so I'd have to. I'd like to get to work at a reasonable time. First more water. S&S is now carrying Pomegranate flavored seltzer, and it was nummy. I could see this in an exotic drink. But it made me thirsty for more. Water that is, I only bought one of these in case I didn't like it.
