The current President, is a room killer.
Perhaps a vibe killer.
You know that song, that clears a full dance floor, and brings down the whole vibe of the room?
Yeah, that's him.
Edit
Some comments:
Bill Clinton and Prince Charles are ASLEEP. *grins*
Gorbechav must be sitting there, as they're talking about "The Evils of Communism" saying to himself "You know, it wasn't THAT bad, why don't you have a nice cup of "Shut The Fuck Up"?"
Now I think Hilary is asleep too.
*snicker*
Someone explain this statement:
"Death has done all that death can do."
What?
Fucking Republicans. A Blight on the Ass of the Country.
(no I don't mean any Republican in particular, but sheesh - stop being so damn greedy! Effing help out your neighbor when he's down, help raise the next generation so that things go BETTER, don't just sit in your big house figuring out how YOU can save more tax dollars. Fuck you, divendeds and gains are GIFT MONEY, they SHOULD be taxed at a higher rate, you fat fuck!)
(*ahem* thank you drive through)

Date: 2004-06-11 09:46 am (UTC)THE EFFING REPUBICANS ARE SAYING IT.
The ones sending my friend to be shot at.
The ones hell bent on destroying a culture, and in curtailing the rights of their OWN countryman. It's infuriating.
Irony in it's grandest form.
It just must be hard to be Gorbechav, to sit there and have to LISTEN to these giant blowhards. He did his best, and maybe it wasn't good enough, but he did something about it.

Date: 2004-06-11 10:04 am (UTC)The Country is corrupt. And apathetic.
but I think a feces flinging monkey will do a better job.
But I'm aligned Democrat, so obviously, there's issues. *grins*
The current president has displayed his ability to steal elections, I fear for all of us if he does it again - you might have a couch an Ex-Pat can crash on?

Date: 2004-06-11 10:12 am (UTC)He can only fiddle the election if the result is really close again, so I'd be quietly optimistic if I were you. I think Bush is taking his core constituency too much for granted - his enthusiasm for massive illegal immigration in the interests of big business denanding ultra-cheap labour is going to lose him votes there.
Kerry being a distinguished war vet should help too.

>
> Whenever President George W. Bush mentions "terrorism" in his eulogy,

> For every TV commercial aired between now and Saturday offering its

> If Ron Reagan Jr. is seen standing in the vicinity of the Dubya
> Daughters, take a drink.

> If Gorbachev mentions the "tear down this wall" or "evil empire"

> "Every time you feel like putting a brick through the TV, drink."

Date: 2004-06-11 11:12 am (UTC)Kerry's war record will actually hurt him, due to the very unpopular war going on. _I_ respect him, thanks to my friend serving, and knowing what HE'S been put through. (Yards of paperwork just to take his wife with him to his new post. WTF!) but Bush has a propoganda machine that's spun the most amazing fairy tales.

now THAT's Funny! *grins*

Date: 2004-06-11 12:40 pm (UTC)I find the Religious Right phenomenon hard to understand. Evangelicals are attempting to get more of a clawhold into the population of this country, but in general they're still regarded as, well let's say it, insane.
The striking thing is that so many of your popular religious leaders so consistently turn out to be *so* hypocritical and *so* scarily corrupt, and yet still enjoy a considerable following. This is just an impression and I know I'm generalising. If I'm wrong, please say so.

Date: 2004-06-11 09:50 am (UTC)I don't claim to know ANYTHING about the guy - I was in grade school, and barely take any interest right now. it's just disgusting. I certainly don't believe half of the hype going on.
In the end, he was just a sad, feeble old man, who once did stuff. No matter what, you just feel - bad. Somehow.
I can't stand blowhards. I realize this is ALSO Ironic *grins* I've been watching the whole ceremony, and it's just a whole load of hot air.

Date: 2004-06-11 09:57 am (UTC)Reagan did contribute to some extent, as it can be argued that the 'Star Wars' bluff appeared to suggest from the Soviet side that keeping up with the Americans militarily would require another vast swathe of money they didn't have. Thus, strengthening the arguments for reform in the face of the economic bankrupty of the Marxist-Leninist system. I'm sure that said blowhards will suggest that Reagan was single-handedly responsible for the end of the Soviet Union, of course (and knew exactly what he was doing, which is debatable too)...
Btw, you can find a great 'Reagan funeral' drinking game on alt.tasteless. ;-)

Date: 2004-06-11 10:01 am (UTC)I just thought it was in bad taste to make Reagan the Warrior Against Communism, with one of his contemporaries, who did way MORE, sitting right over....there.
I like to think he was saying "Nice cup of...." Heh.

Date: 2004-06-11 10:07 am (UTC)I'm not too optimistic about Russia itself (they just can't seem able to get over their imperial pretensions and their need for authoritarian leaders, and they're riddled with organised crime on an insane scale), but a lot of the smaller ex-Soviet republics are starting to do quite well. Georgia's an interesting one, now they've had their bloodless second revolution and finally turfed out the old Soviet-era politicians.

Date: 2004-06-11 11:05 am (UTC)I watch royal weddings.
And yes, I got up at O'Gawd o'clock to see the Charles/Diana wedding.
Besides, I was bored, it was there. And it was pretty funny in spots.
Blowhards.
