What the frelling hell is an SATA Hard Drive?

Microcenter still has them advertised, although they were out last week I'm thinking a recheck is in order. The 120Gig SATA hard drive is $109.99. the 160Gig hard drive is also 109.99, and it appears to be a "standard" hard drive.

You know, if I'm going to be playing with my system, I really should learn the lingo.
I should probably just order this. It's available online. It's also refurbished, however, and I dunno if I want that hassle. *shrugs*

It's the newer standard being put into mainboards.
It's a faster transfer rate than IDE.

If you don't have a new mainboard that supports SATA drives you're out of luck and will need an IDE (which you can still most certainly get)

Yeah, my case and motherboard are about 5 years old (three years of me owning it, and at least two years as a server somwhere. It's a P3,450, which so far has been great and while I want to upgrade, it's lower on the list of priorities right now) so I think that 160 gig is more in order. I doubt my computer will be able to handle the new tech.
