It's a HTML Meta Tag, called LJ-Cut.
(I'm going to write it out - replace the ( and ) with a "<" or a ">" If I did it int he instructions, it wouldn't read right *grins*)
(lj-cut) puts everything after it on the comments page.
You end that wwith (/lj-cut) to either close, or put more text on top.
if you want it to say something other than "read More" you write (lj-cut text="More Naked Fishies!") and the link text will say that.
There is a Faq, I can't look it up right now, but you get the jist. Just use brackets, not parenthesis. And remember to put in the closing tag (Thats this one = /lj-cut, the backslash closes the tag) It works for pictures too.
