I hate when things that need to happen hinge on something else.
Like, finding hotel reservations to my NYC hotel of choice (the Gershwin, and I know it's a tad too run down for the price, but outside parking and location just can't be beat) for two, for LESS than $100 a night, the only thing up in the air is one bed or two, but I'm going to request two, and NOT being able to get a hold of my cohort is annoying.
Of course, as I'm typing that - he calls. We're going to get that room.
BUT - getting the room hinges on getting a paycheck. If I don't get it today, to put more on my credit card, which needs to pay for an oil change to the Auto of Doom today, it's JUST not quite enough to pay for everything. If ONLY I Hadn't paid every bill I could get my hands on. If' I'd ONLY just sat on the one not due til the end of the month, I'd be SET. Also, if I'd only not forgotten to put in two charges into my checkbook, I wouldn't have paid that last bill, since I would have been TOO close to broke to do it.
*sigh* I wish I had these problems every month.
I think I'm just going to jump with both feet. I'm going to use the debit card to pay for the oil change, which is the last of my cash, and book the room once I get to the office. AND send out that thing I need to send using the company account. (And they love me so much, that I'm going to TELL them I'm doing it, instead of not!) That way, I'm all set. Completely BROKE, but all set, and all I need is the check, and I'm ALL set. AND, I can cash the check, and deposit the excess cash for my remaining bill.
*shakes head* How do I get into these financial twists and turns?
OK - I have to get up and dress quickly, while waiting for the girl babysitting my nephew today. I want to be outside when she gets here. Oh, and each major street between me and my nephews school is flooded. So much for neato thunder, lightning and rain. *makes a face*
OK - Back later!

Date: 2003-07-23 11:49 am (UTC)There's a chance I might want to go again in August, if H needs a ride to school. This weekend was "sudden" I found out two weeks ago, but couldn't confirm yay or nay til Sunday.
I found a rate of $90 for the Gershwin on Hotels.com. That's for two. Not a room like WE had, but a room, hopefully, like Kat and I had, two twin beds. Possibly one queen. but, since I'm not going alone, that would kinda be a bit, well, sucky on my part (Since Matt is aiming for someone else, and isn't interested in me, or I him.) Still, that's KILLER for a weekend in July in a Hotel I know and Love.
Now, I just have to DO it, I just can't be completely broke before I do. I'm waiting on the status of a payment due me before I book.
I dunno - do we want to plan something? I don't think I'm free for a couple of weeks yet, tho.

Date: 2003-07-23 12:23 pm (UTC)Hmmmm - Let's compare:
NYC or
LONDON and Whitby?
if I end up NOT going to London in October/November, I'll be more than happy to entertain the thought. Otherwise, my whole focus is on affording to go back to London for 7 days, and the Whitby festival for 5.
However, I might be willing to take a side trip to Montreal, if you go, um, sans your family unit? if you will? Let me know how that one works out.
