Things feel better
Jun. 30th, 2003 11:17 amNo really. They do.
Things looked crappy on Wednesday. And Thursday. Friday was starting to look up, then wasn't.
So to deal with that, I had lunch/dinner with
andalucien which was very nice. I'm sorry I felt the need to cut things short tho. We had sushi at the new local place (note to
kazama this is the place in Quincy Center. It's OK, not as cool as I'd like it, but it'll do in a pinch. Apollo is still number 1) it's way too hot these days, but we walked around for a while, talking.
In response to feeling icky Friday, I think I called out to Lou, who called, and we spent a long time on the phone Friday. it was nice, especially to reaffirm how he's always there for me (there's a lot of people here for me, I was just avoiding them. I can't avoid Lou, goddess knows if he's being sent "away" again.) Anyway, after that call, I emailed Ben about going to visit. I wanted something different.
3 hour drive later, and things are SO different. it really is beautiful where he lives. He told me "Drive through town, and keep driving til you get to the middle of nowhere, then turn left." And, lo and behold, there was the stretch of nowhere, and the left. it was mind boggling. It cooled off considerably during the drive, which was nice once I got there.
Nothing makes a girl feel better than a baby horsie *silly grin* He had to go check on the barn, so I got to meet three disgruntled horses, who expected to eat but it wasn't' eating time yet. Two hours later, however, he hands me the "bottle" made out of a two-liter *Whoa!* and I got to feed the baby! She's totally adorable and quite affectionate to whomever has the bottle in their hands. Next time I go uot for a visit, I'm bringing my camera to share the baby goodness. compared to the two big horses, she's tiny, but she's still as tall as me, and pushy *grins*
I'll say this for Ben, he's been through a lot, and he's still open and generous. He knew full well I'd be in a state and told me to come out anyway. He's dealing well with his situation, even tho he's really alone. and I mean it, there's NOTHING where he is. *sigh* I'm going to make a point to visit when I can. OK, so it's only another hour to NYC, I need to make that trip as well. Must be more careful with money!
(Oh, btw, this isn't his cabin, it's his 'rents house. I didn't' want to impose, but I ended up crashing for a couple of hours before coming home Sunday so I wouldn't recommend just "showing up" although I know he'd love visitors.)
So, right now I'm late again, my nephew and sister are still here, and not looking to go anywhere, I think I'd better lock down my computer. Gah, it's hot.
Hmmmm, baby horsie schmoopies are always the best. There's no real cleaning up after them, and they're so big you don't have to worry about hurting them by dropping them or stuff. *grins*
