I stopped by CVS last night, for light bulbs, and ended picking up some other things, like tights for today. They had a sign, buy 2, get one free. OK, not a brand I'm used to, but hey, it'll do and they's cheaper than my usual. I bring things to the register, and see that one of the tights is a smaller size I inadvertently picked up. So I say to the lady behind the register "Oh, I got the wrong size, let me run back real quick and grab the right one." Her answer "So you want this one?" I said "No, but they're buy one get one free, so I need one more in the right size. I'll be right back." "so, you want _this_one?" No, I don't. Run back, grab right one, go back. Total comes to way more than expected. As I step away I review the receipt. Not only is there NOT a free one, there are FOUR pairs. I walk back. Um, first this didn't come off as free, and second you never took the wrong one off. "Oh, you said you wanted it. I asked you, you said." Um, what about This is the wrong size, let me get a different one didn't you understand? "Well YOU said You wanted it." Um, NO I didn't. "Well YOU wanted it, so what do you want now?' *growl* I want the WRONG one taken off, and since THIS didn't come up free, I want THIS one taken off too. She goes back to check the sign, since there's NOTHING in the paper, and comes back with "Well, the sign doesn't SAY which one is one sale." Oh, so it being on EVERY ONE of the brand I bought means nothing? I just got the refund and left.
Remind me, never again to do anything complicated. I'm tempted to buy one thing at a time. I swear, stores hire the STUPIDEST people, just so they get the customer frustrated and they leave without asking for what they should get, and save the store money in the long run. Of course, the poor girl had her "closed" sign up and the bitch who got in line in BACK of me during the refund, sighing and moaning the whole time, totally ignored it. She actually pushed the sign aside to put her stuff down.
