Depeche Mode!
Jul. 2nd, 2001 01:32 amSo drag myself out of bed, and head to Great Woods to get tickets this afternoon. The tickets sucked. I refused them. I knew we could do better. They were midway up in Section 4.
We (D and I) decide to tailgate a bit, and get there early for newly released seats. Spend rest of afternoon running around to get stuff done, in the #$%@(^$ heat. But, even after all the stupud human crap, turn up at D's with two subs, sodas, water and chips. We get there about, um, 6:30 ish. Run right up to box office, to the little guy I flirted with earlier.
The NOW best available are Section 1, Row H. HELL yes we want them. So back to the car, for dinner and boinging about the good seats. Eat the subs. make fun of the Courtney Love lookalike who was just SO nasty.
On the way in we saw Dan, and his friend from work, Harlan and Krista, Steve and Sarah (And Dan again) and a gaggle of nastiness. Heh. We pop into the girls room for a potty break, and jaunt off towards the seats.
Now I assumed row H was 8th row. The little guy at the box office said "These are good, these are THIRD row." Ok they took out some seats. Well Row H in section 1 turns out to be an added row, as they had some additional room once they setup the stage. So, we are in the FRONT of section 1, noone in front of us. I thought D was gonna have a heart attack. Especially once Poe came on, and we saw just how close pretty Dave would be, by watching her. She had to hit the bathroom again, she was so excited (OK TMI, but still!) I'm still in shock.
See, here's Tia's patented little secret - ALWAYS buy day of show, unless the show will sell out. Even then, go early and ask if any additional seats have been put up, and be willing to take singles. This row went up once they setup the stage. Hell, they were $60 apiece, and they added 8 people willing to shell out the $$$, more money for the band and venue. They box office guy said they had put up some third row center before we had gotten there, but I think these were better.
So, we ended up on the fence in the front stage left. Dave kept coming right up to our corner and shaking his little boot-tay! We were JUSt shy of being able to touch him. I'm not sure I wanted to anyway, sweaty nasty little creature *grin* We were on the opposite side form Martin, but that was OK as he moved around.
Other than the Cruxshadows, I've never been closer to a band, especially one I've always wanted to see. I was pretty close for Def Leppard, but not this close. It was SO yummy. The energy was intoxicating, and D was totally into the whole thing. I'm very happy for her, this is HER band, like Duran Duran or the Cruxshadows for me. It was strange, she had a dream where we had front row seats , except it involved some lions in her lap. So she said to tell all of you that our seats were foretold in a dream, and it was meant to be. *LOL*
Just the thought that I was close enough, that the one time Dave stood over us, and looked down, that if he had reached down, and I had streatched up, I could have touched him. Just once, naughty sweaty monkey!
Once we go there, everything went so smoothly, even getting out. I was home at 12:20, which I'm AMAZED at! Now, hopefully things will go as smoothly for Stevie Nicks. I'm supposed ot go with a gaggle of norms, my uncle his fiancee and their friends, and I may consent to Lawn seats. I'm not driven to spend $72 for front row, or close, while they sit on the lawn alone. If I were going alone, it would be one thing. I had planned on it, I didn't want to go with anyone else, to properly enjoy the experience. Seeing her sing "Gold Dust Woman" up close is phenominal. I recommend it. *Laugh*
Need to wind down and go to bed. I think I may hop into the shower so I don't have to deal in the morning.
