Oh and here we go again

I just got a call from someone from a "you have won" company. Making small talk and having my CELLPHONE number. They want all sorts of personal information, and they get mad when I'm not social.

"Hi miss "X""
Me - "helllo"
"how are you this morning?"
Me - "*still suspicious*"Fine"
"*exasperated noise* Well you SOUND fine."
Me - "Um, excuse me but this is my BUSINESS phone, how did...."
"*interrupts* You DID enter our sweepstakes, right? *implies I need to answer him* You live in ...."
Me - "I'm sorry I don't recall entereing....."
*snother exasperated noise*
*hangs up*

I want to find out who they are, but I think I'm just going to start hanging up once they don't tell me who they are. Most of my "Unavailable" calls identify themselves. Like Accounttemps, asks for me, then says "Blank from Accounttemps, how're you?" I ask who these other peole are. and they accuse me of being rude.

Let me just put it this way - I know that this is probably someone who put me on a mailing list, like all the spam I'm getting. I've helped friends do it to people they don't like enough to know the drill. AND I know how to make it stop. Which it has been. AND I know the proper revenge to take. I think those revenge measures must be put into play now. And since I don't know WHO, I think I'll just yank out my list, and start pinging all of them. *grins* I don't want to, but needs must.

Calling a cellular phone like this is highly illegal. If you can get out of them who they work for, I'd bust 'em hard. If not, perhaps your cellular provider would be willing to help you nail them?

I'd love to know who they are, since I'm sure I didn't get the guys REAL company (Publishing Sweepstakes, he didn't say Publisher's Clearinghouse, or anything VALID like that.) But, normally, when I interrupt them to say "I'm sorry, whom did you say you were from?" they tell me I'm being VERY rude, and maybe I should shut up (YES they tell me to shut up.) AAnd then I say "YOu call MY cell phone and tell me I'm rude?" and that's when they hang up, sometimes with a "Maybe IU'll just call back when you're in a better mood." They don't allow me to get out "Take me off your mailing list" *sigh* I shouldn't worry about it, and i should just start hanging up on them. I was thinking about listening to them, giving them all kinds of false information, THEN ordering them to take me from their list. But I didn't feel like it today.

I'm sorry you had a crappy time this weekend. You should have come to NYC. *schmoopy grin*

Hmm, actually it does look useful.
If I'm home or have it on me, I'll have to try it. One of these calls came through while I was at a client, and they were screaming at me while I was trying to be calm and rational for my client's benefit.
It's odd, they take offense at how I say things like "fine" He asked me how I was doing, I said "Fine." very hesitant since I didn't know who the older gruff sounding guy was on my phone, and he got all huffy "Yea, you SOUND fine. You live in (blank) right?" and it went downhill from there. I know it's a ploy, but I'm not used to having someone call ME and yell at me. Well, except for my sex line clients, but I get paid for that *grins**runs*

Maybe next time tho, I'll just start throwing random questions at them. "Oh Hi, do you have a llama too?" *lol*
