I'm going to London.
No, I haven't bought the ticket yet, I'm still looking at prices.
But, IF I get the stupid application and picture done within the next week.
I'm going to FREAKING LONDON!
This is MUCH bigger than going to DC by myself, lets face it, Spud and Melinda were there if something went SERIOUSLY wrong, Lou was an hour away, at most, and I knew the Cruxshadows and Bella Morte and Voltaire enough to approach all of them (and did, asking Bn to walk me home Saturday night.)
I need to get on a London mailing list.
I need to get a calling card to call Jonathan, whom I just emailed.
I need to make nice with some people, so I can meet new people, and go out when J or F are busy, I need a British Museum buddy, and someone to take me to the Tower of London.
I'm GOING TO LONDON PEOPLE!
*BOING*
(this will suck if something happens. I'm convinced I'm going, I can't wait, and I'm way too excited to sleep now.)
Maybe I'll meet a naugty British boy, and then CB will be SOL (shit outta luck!)

Date: 2002-09-13 08:26 am (UTC)Hey, if you find one let me know...I'm going in November (trying to, anyway).
London calling and I don't mean to shout...

Date: 2002-09-13 09:07 am (UTC)You've managed to cause me to stop speaking. YOU are indeed an engima.
When and how are you going? I wouldn't mind a plane buddy at all (or two if you're going with someone.) And there are London lists, I was told about one of them and the stupid name escapes me, something about sluts. And then there's the Slimelight.
You mean I've been going on and on and you've said nothing?
*d'oh*
Seriously, my plans are quite flexible, except for being unable to leave on a Friday or Saturday. Tell me what up, yo!
Re:
Date: 2002-09-13 09:17 am (UTC)I bloody love London. When I lived in France I made it there three times. Then I spent New Year's weekend there back in 2000.
I remember the first time I went. My SO at the time took one look at me in Trafalgar Square and said, "Good Lord, this is where you belong, isn't it?"
Yep. No city ever has ever felt so *right* for me. It has its bad points, but I don't care. I truly love that place in a way I cannot explain.
Anyway, Mich really wants to go so we are planning, planning. November seems more logical because BA and Virgin have all these specials then...

Date: 2002-09-13 10:00 am (UTC)Mich = the grrl you're always with? Bad with names, am I.
I'm planning on buying Monday or Tuesday, I need to decide on a date by then. I have an email out to Jonathan regarding anything that might put a crimp in plans, and I'm thinking I'm going Tuesday 11/12 (flight is at 7:25 PM our time on Virgin out of Logan), and returning Wednesday 11/20, flight leaves 2:30PM London time. But that's flexible, I just thought midweek is good, and trying to avoid coming into Logan anywhere near Thanksgiving.
Virgin is $364, round, direct from Logan. but, there's only one each day at that price, and they are identical every day I looked at, all arriving in London at *GAG* 6:30AM London time. The exceptions are on the weekends, but those are more expensive, and this is the cheapest by a hundred I've found. www.orbitz.com I'm not even bothering with any other cheap flight search engine - they want too much info and give me no reassurance I'll not be on DeathTrap airlines.
I'm pretty sure we could request seats together, I'll have to call the airline. I'm certain that on my trip to Atlanta last year I didn't get assigned a seat until I checked in, but that may be different on international flights.
GAH - I'm supposed to be working, dammit! Don't get me all excited!
