because LJ knows everything *sarcastic grin*
(OK pretty much since I can't really get a hold of my pharmacist friend)
I'm thinking I actually DO need the antibiotics I got yesterday, but the pills are huge (Ok they're not THAT big) I have pill issues due to a trauma in childhood (YOU try trying to swallow a pill for 2 HOURS gagging on it each time, and being forced to do it again and again. *shudder*) and my throat is still swollen.
So the question - these are caplets. I can open them. If I opened them and spread the contents on say, a piece of bread, rolled it into smaller pieces and swallowed THOSE, is that possible? Would that ruin the potentcy? I just can't imageing trying to swallow this right now.
I'm such a little baby. *snicker*

Date: 2002-07-10 09:45 am (UTC)Another option you do have is to go back to the pharmacy and ask them to give you the perscription in another more palatable form. Kira had Amoxicilin in liquid form that went down more like cough syrup than having to have pills. There should be that option at bare minimum. Also, you could call the pharmacy and ask them this same question about opening the pills and taking them on food. They would be much more knowledgeable about it specifically to your perscription than anyone.
Side Note: I am now 90% sure that T was gouging me on Kira's Medical Insurance. Even at the highest rate, it is half of the total charge each week and not half of Kira's charge each week. We are switching her to my medical which is the same insurer and I will end up saving $55/two weeks.

Date: 2002-07-10 10:39 am (UTC)Except for -
1) not Amox, and the doctor was PERTERBED I a) didn't want that and b) had ASKED for a liquid. he said no and no. The amount of drug I'd have to take would be "staggaring" becuase it'd be a kids, and that's only if I dropped my whole "allergy to amox" thing. Gr.
2) the pharmacy is down the Cape, and I already have the pills.
3) I need to get a hold of Joanne, she's the pharmacist, or just jet to the local CVS and pull them out and say "I can't swallow these, can I just open them and swallow the powder?" I wasn't planning on mixing them with water, and they say you can take with a cracker or bread or something.
I'm just annoyed that for the first time in my life I was poo-poo'd by an MD.
