I'm concerned about today

because I might have to put it out of it's misery.
I stayed home last night, due to some wokrings that needed to happen and all around tiredness. I wanted to get up reasonably and take my car for some service, a not-so-inexpensive set of stuffs, plus a few more items. I've been saving for it. I'm able to afford it, and the sticker shock on the price wore off I know it needs doing.
Well since it's out in Norwood I needed a loaner. Was told "Oh I don't KNOW if you'll be able to pick it up Wednesday we'll see" So I got a message the car wasn't back yet, call back later. Which I did. Still no car. So I hit my client and once finished, right at 8, called again. This time no answer, but the recording says the sales floor is open til 9. So I pop over there - they're dark. Apparently they've changed ALL their hours and not told anyone.
OK - annoyed but not so much since I was out there, and they warned me I might not get the car Wednesday. I wake up somewhat late (as usual, I NEED my time to recover and haven't gotten it yet.) I drive out, more than a bit grumpy about my day. Not sure why really, but grumpy. SO it's probably not the time to be told "Well you never showed up, so there are no cars. We'll HAVE to get you an Enterprise car."
Well here I am, so saying "YOu never showed up" pisses me off. I called and called and swung by, and noone ever told me about the hours change. Oh and by the way, Enterprise can suck my butt. Last time I rented from them they fucked me, and I won't give them any more business, even if I'm not paying for it. I STILL have to do all the paperwork, put up with the stupid people there, oh and SECURE IT MYSELF, and hope they don't feel like charging me for it instead of the dealer. No thanks.
So it's been rescheduled for next week, when I have the SAME PROBLEMS with timing, and I said "Well I have plans on Thursday" and get looked at like I should JUST RESCHEDULE because this is my CAR!
I am more than willing to work with their schedule, I am, which is why I called last week for THIS appointment. Next week seriously doesn't work for me. They gave away my car without calling to see why I "never showed up" This wasn't an oil change - it was a 100,000 mile tune up. Not Cheap. I asked about other work I'd like to have done, got told one is "major" but got no price quote, and the other got "Well it's NOT CHEAP and it's just, well, whatever" It's not important, she said.
It's my car. It's important to me. You're in the service industry. You're telling me you don't give a shit? I think I'll take it somewhere else.
Seriously, the dealer seems to go through this every couple of years, they get people in Service who don't give a shit, lose all their customers, get a regime change, and I go back. I won't put up with this. I'm going to cancel that appointment and get an oil change this weekend. Everything else can wait until I do some research.
Came home for something to eat, I can feel it improving my mood already. Long day ahead, eventually if I get it started.

Date: 2009-04-23 04:48 pm (UTC)No - a few years ago that Saturn started making bad noises at around 200,000 (that's on the new engine, I just beat it to death) and I got a 2002 Saturn L200. It was a really good deal, and is totally paid off. So I figure if I drop a grand into it a year, give or take, on service and repairs, I'm better off.
There's nothing "wrong" per se with the car. I did brakes last year and have done tires and a battery and such. There's talk on the forums regarding some noises my steering is making that can be fixed by a flush and re-greasing, and I DESPERATELY need an oil change. First it was money, then it was finding the time. It's happening this weekend if I have to kill to have it done.
I just don't like this bullshit from the dealer because they think they have me reeled in.
(Haven't you seen my car? It's a larger sedan, and this one is Black. It's sweet.)

Date: 2009-04-23 04:52 pm (UTC)I swear by Valvoline Instant Oil Change. They trounce Jiffy Lube hands down.
I think I remember you buying the new Saturn now! I just so vividly remember all the trouble you had with the old one.

Date: 2009-04-23 05:02 pm (UTC)I usually hit the Firestone down the street for Oil Changes. I usually Can Has coupons, and they have to do an alignment and tire rotation for free, since I got the Lifetime Alignment (you have NO IDEA how much money this saves me - I get it practically for free thanks to working the coupons and the boobies)
I was going to have Saturn do the 100,000 mile tune up, changing fluids and spark plugs and blinker and brake light fluids (HA!) not just the oil. But Fuck Them In The Ear.
