So yes I know, getting a "nice" and "cheap" room in NYC is looking to the impossible. I'm thinking by planning far out in advance I could stay in the Gershwin, which is my hotel of choice, for about $165, which is pretty good for the city, puts me where I like, and makes me content.

HOWEVER

I think I'm putting that trip on hiatus. :) after I did that poking, I switched gears and started poking Atlanta for visiting [livejournal.com profile] le2pold and the NIN show. That was the weekend I was looking at going to NYC, so that is quashed for that weekend, and I'm waiting on flight prices to drop, and threw out an email to L about timing.

While I was writing that email, I thought "You know, maybe we should go up to Atlanta overnight before the show and stay so we can go OUT out" My plan was to go up and me stay overnight near the airport, so L wouldn't have to drive me back, and I'd come back on Monday, midday. Adding one more day to a hotel, in Downtown Atlanta instead of by the airport spends more money. So OK I'm still processing.

So while looking at Atlanta hotels (specifically the Dragoncon hotels for you guys what know those things) I discovered a little thing:

THAT THE KING TUT EXHIBIT IS STILL IN ATLANTA!

and is there til MidMay. YOu all KNOW how dumb and crazy I get over that stuff!

So I sent another email to L full of CAPS and misspellings and ZOMGWTFLOLBBQ! and hopefully we'll discuss this next week and make the solid plans. Since I'd rather do this than have Random in NYC, this is the way I'm leaning.

I'm still interested in cost saving techniques for NYC. I still do want to see Kooza, but now I'm thinking I'll Acela it down midweek, see the show, have dinner, MAYBE stay overnight, then come home. Or drive, and stay in CT, and take the train in. I won't be tempted to go OUT out since thee isn't much, but I should check on that too.

Crazy travel plans FTW! hehehehe.

Even though they suck donkey arse as an actual estate agent, www.foxtons.co.uk is a good site for getting ideas about flat sizes. Their interactive floorplans are cool and they actually list square footages.

Figures you'd go visit Atlanta after I leave. ;)
