So here's the story, partially done.
After a full battery of X-rays, and some UGLY pictures (they have this camera on the end of a wand that takes pics in your mouth, *shudder*)
The pain in the bottom of my jaw is caused by the broken molar in the TOP. Apparently it's radiating. It has an abscess, and I have two choices - yank the bitch, or root canaly goodness. *shiver* Oh yes, and my wisdom teeth are Ug-LY and do need to come out, but they're not a "difficult extraction" and he's giving me an referral to an oral surgeon. Not needed at the moment.
here's the rub - he got annoyed when I hesitated to save the tooth. He wants to do a procedure that will alleviate the pain, but only if I'm doing the root canal. There's no use doing it otherwise. BUT, if I want the tooth yanked, he won't do it. I hear - either have the root canal (and this procedure) or spend another night in pain.
I'm going to tell him I'm doing the root canal, and get the procedure done. I probably will save the tooth, because I've talked to my mom and sister (of course, I can't stand them most of the time, but this time they've both had extractions and root canals, and don't I always go to my mommy when there's trouble *sigh*) and something my mom said got to me. She's had a lot of extractions, and said "I'm going through a lot of time and trouble to keep the teeth I have" So I think I'm going to have the root canal. He said I'm not too bad, and this one is the major problem.
So there it is, I should be out of pain in about 2 and a half hours, in time for my appointment and for going a fagging later on, depending on the pain quotient. This will take care of things for 6 to 8 weeks, so I may decide to get the tooth yanked later on. *shrug* Let's see how much this will cost, because, to be honest I still don't know.
Anyone have any clue what kind of monetary damage I'm talking about? I just had a full set of XRays, and I assume this is some sort of scraping thing. I'm assuming about $400, hopefully less, hopefully not more.
