Yeah we were told to go home early, to make sure everyone got home. This was before snow. I was "Let's wait and see" but at 1PM on the dot, down it came. I stuck it out later, due to a birthday cake (clearly the only one in the office that's allowed to but uber chocolate. When I ask for that I get told "not everyone likes chocolate" *hand*) and getting some things done I could only do from my computer, like send out a wire.
I went to the PO to mail off the first trade item I'd agreed to. This is with my new site I love Swaptree.com I'm getting Confessions on a Dance Floor (Madonna CD) for XMen 3, and the price of postage. I'm satisfied by this. Tonight, since I went to my client yesterday, I'm planning on culling more stuffs, and then also finding more stuffs I want. Woot!
But that trip cost me. First the boss asked me to wait "five minutes" while he readied some items. It was already bad, so it wasn't an issue. Until that turned into 30 minutes, two phone calls and several emails I had to address before leaving. Then trekking to the PO took a half hour. It's a 5 minute ride. Mostly due to excessive traffic. Then another 30 home, and that could have and should have been worse.
The problem is the stupid driving. The people cutting into traffic. The people running redlights. The people cutting into the intersections, knowing the light is about to turn red and they'll get stuck in the middle, not letting anyone get through going in the other direction. People driving too fast, fishtailing, and holding up traffic, causing complete and total backups. Fortunately for me, my direction is technically pointed the other way from the traffic. Once I worked my way through one or two bad intersections, it was home free, except for one or two over-cocky soccer moms on my tail. Compare that with the soccer moms in actual four wheel drives creeping along with white knuckles on the wheel. Pathetic.
Anyway, I'm home now. Car is parked out back and I need to prepare to pop out there once an hour or so, move it if they're going to plow, and keep it cleaned off. I have plenty of soups and cocoa for warming up. Hehehe, and beer.
I should log into work email now. More later.....

Date: 2007-12-13 11:07 pm (UTC)Clearly I'm missing something because there are LOTS of sites out there for swapping. I've been working today with LibraryThing.com, to get my BOXES of books up somewhere on the net, to get rid of them to people who want them. Problem is - I'd rather have MONEY than the swaps, the point is to get stuff gone, not replaced. LibraryThing is cool because it links to a lot of sites for trades and selling, and keeps track of your list. What I also need is something to help me inventory - that book 1 is in box 1, so I'm not hunting *grins* I'm certain that's doable, IJ ust need to play with it and I've reached my level of caring for the day on this. I need to go shovel out my car.
One caveat on Swapfree - read the fine print. They do One for One trades, and if you list something on your trade list, they expect you to trade it for something on your want list - I talked about that I think yesterday. I took the 4DVD live Aid boxes set off because I don't want to trade that for a $5 book. Yet. They penalize you by restricting trades and reviewing your account, and you can get a rep for being unwilling to trade. Positive, but negative.
