In what way doesn't it recognise it, like can it recognise several partitions if they are each under 30GB, or can you not access more than 30GB at all?
If the latter, and you can't do a BIOS upgrade to fix it, it might be possible to get a hard drive controller card, which would at least be a lot cheaper than a whole new motherboard/CPU/etc? (I think it's the case that a hard drive card would get round BIOS/motherboard limitations, though I can't say for certain!)
