Weird turnaround

before I went to the UK I'd continued my patterns, where the week was for "working" on stuff and Saturday became *whump* on the couch day.

Today I woke up eager to get to stuff I haven't been able to work on all week.I want to pull everything out of my room, and reorg. I want to get the curtains up on my closet, I think that will help me get pictures taken if I have a nice flat backdrop, plus the rod to hang things on. Also only temporary until I can afford the mirrored doors on my closet. But a less than $10 solution from Ikea, and I have the curtains already. They formerly hung on my bed when I had the canopy up. The canopy shall return, I've been pricing new frames for my head and foot boards, that has a support piece in the center, but also something that will need to wait.

I've also managed to make pancakes this AM with a minimum of fuss. I'm not even urged to eat them all, which means leftover pancakes for later or tomorrow! W00T!

I might be one of the few people on my list not going to Repo tonight. I dunno, I'm just not interested. L and I are going to Machine for the new Underworld night they have going. L needs a night out, and I need to wear my new shirt *grins* LM picked it up for me a Whitby ago, so there's no cost out to me right now. Yay new shirt! And there might be sushi later. Squee.

Anyway, stuff to do. I can't seem to find my old wireless router I promised to L. I DO have a huge amount of recyclable computer parts. I also need to finally gather up all the computer stuff I'm hoping will still be able to go to a collector, in order to get it OUT once and for all. One way or another I need to work on this, there's boxes in the closet that I know has keeper stuff in it that I just need to reorganize and inventory.

Oh-kay?

So We (meaning M) gets the Ikea brackets up and I get the curtain rod up over the closet. I then dig out the box that has "household" stuff out of my closet and get the black panel curtains out. There are six, which is two too many, IMHO, but since they're all wrinkled I decide to put them all up, to have some extra space floating around for coverage. Looking at them now - I like them. The closet is covered in a way I actually like. I never liked the doors we had on them, and even when I get the mirrored doors they will come in handy to cover the mirrors when I don't' want the room so bright. I've even seen some things about having them hang there I see how to make them hang better and keep coverage.

What's not so good is the storage box. Besides the curtains the box contains:

- a "bedspread" of some kind my Nani made - out of a McDonalds sheet. ZOMG is this thing ugly. But, as with most things she made, I can't get rid of them. I have some baggies with doilies in them. Yeah I'm keeping those too. Sorry. You know, if it's ONE storage box I can live with it. Much like my toys and books. If it's ONE box, I'll live with it. One box of stuff from Nani, one box of toys, one box of papers and mementos. No I don't have a lot of storage, but it's so much easier to let go of other stuff, if I allow myself these things.

- also in the box - old pillows. They have no lift and actually smell a little. Ew. Out. I also had another body pillow case, which means the green of my old pillow that doesn't match my bed = gone! It's a nice black, but the fabric I didn't like so much for sleeping. It'll be part of the made bed decor.

- the plastic bags the curtains came in. I recall the hardware for my bed I used to keep in these bags. However since the bed is BUILT - I don't think I need these. Out.

- A few more curtains, sheer this time. These stay for not, I'll probably build these into my canopy once it goes back up.

So this box "full of stuff I need" has turned up Empty, full of junk, and stuff I just need to toss. I wonder how many other boxes in the closet (there's about 6 in there correction, there are 4 more boxes in the closet, but I've been through them recently. There's more toys than I thought) will be the same?

EDIT - I forgot the small storage unit in the basement of this building. By unit I mean cubby. I think it's 5ft x5 x5. I know my old kitchen table and chair pieces are in there, I know some of my poster items are in there, HONESTLY I'm "forgetting" about it for now. I'm putting nothing new in there, and taking nothing out, until I've gotten the rest of the house settled.

Edited the Second - I've put my hands on some more items that now warrant a box of "Bedroom/household" stuff. The weird bedspread, a queen size comforter that isn't in use right now, but is good to keep around for who knows what, more sheer curtains, and some bed scarves. This will also go into my closet, and I'm probably going to try and fit my extra guest towels in here until I do a revamp of the hall closet.

This "Important" box in my closet that's just FULL of dolls from my childhood and I really want to pass on to....

So I have a bag of stuffed animals and dolls to let go. I don't think they take them at Goodwill, although these are all clean. And don't get me wrong, there were some in there I want, and some I'm going to sell (there's a china head doll that will be worth money)

But GOOD DOG DAMN I wish I'd done this a long time ago.

I LOVE my curtains. They weren't cheap, hard to find, hard to get, I had to make more than one trip, and they were buried in the back of a discount store many many MANY moons ago. They've survived storage and hanging and moving and more storage and more hanging.

And they look fabulous across my closet. FAB-U-LOUS.
