The Land of Swapping
Dec. 17th, 2007 04:56 pmSo I rejected my first trade today on SwapTree.com. I also got yet another swap timed out. I don't understand that. I assume these are users who, like me, were quite gung ho about it, then got worn down over time. I'm seriously annoyed at people who offer me a $5 book for a $20 DVD. In some cases it's worth it, since the DVD in question is now worth less than the book used, but it's like Freecycle, the GREED of some people is just shocking. And they're never pleasant. I've been sending out little "I mailed you thing today" emails just so there'd be a trail, and one person actually said "Thanks for the notice" without indicating whether they held up their side of the deal. WTF? You emailed me to say "Thanks" and you could have just quickly added "and yours went out too?"
I refused the trade because I was distressed at the book I was getting, which is a kids book I want in my library, and getting it for free with an older cover is what I want. But I kinda wanted the DVD too, and in the end I didn't want to give it up. So They ask you for a reason, and one of the reasons is "The item I'm giving up is way out of price range for the item I'm getting" and I like that. Clearly if I do it too often, I will be penalized, but I feel my "good items" are going first, for stuff I don't REALLY want. I might pull the DVDs, and keep an eye on the items I want that are worth them. I can offer something NOT on my offer list, if I see something on my Want list and they want that item. I just want more control.
because people are greedy pigs, who think only of themselves. Sure, so do I, but not to the detriment of others. What some of these people are thinking, I don't know.
Giving thought to the pile of books I'm "keeping" to "reread" I don't even know if it's worth it. I should put them up on Half as well. Not that it's working, but I don't have time for the lists my mailing list wants. I apparantly can't even MENTION Half.com, although I want to offer them a better deal. Email me off the list, you can have these books for 50 cents each, plus shipping, the list is on Half.com. But NO.
Asshats.
I'm just killing time at work. I've been swamped all day and stupid clients keep emailing me asking me stupid questions, which, when I don't get to them in ahalf hour, email AGAIN. WTF man!
