Some odds and ends
Apr. 27th, 2007 01:40 pm- Much less stressed and fearful about money once the repairs were done and the money deducted. It helps that noone is freaking out excessively at work this week. (there's some freaking, but it's not excessive, and I did get to bitchslap someone verbally yesterday. In a polite tone. Replying to an email about how she was very interesting, but stupid. *elol*
- Also got a call yesterday that my luggage has been repaired. I said "gee that was fast!" the guy replied with many apologies, and that the guys are hard workers, blah blah. I said "No, I mean it, I dropped it off last night." *silence* *mutter "I have to talk to those guys." *SILLY GRIN*
- ALSO - if something comes with a Guaranted Unlimited Warranty, it's LYING to you. I've always heard that Samsonite repaired anything, no questions. However, the repair guy told me "of course not" that it wasn't a defect to the luggage, it was from "normal use" Uh. Well it's not NORMAL use for BOTH HANDLES be ripped off by an airline, in the same trip, and since the airline refuses to take responsibility, I get to bend over, grab ankles and smile. To the tune of $40 (for which I could have purchased a NEW, non matching piece of luggage, I see the irony here. I'm paying for the continued life of my matched set.)
I mean, I just don't know if there's anywhere to point this finger (YOU know which one, I'm doing this as hard as I can ur) The airline handlers broke it, but it's not their fault, it's the suitcase. The suitcase manufaturers say the airline is at fault, which is my fault because I chose to go that route/airline. I just don't see this as normal wear and tear. I took this same piece to England last year, it survived travel to Logan, handling there, the ride in the plane, travel through Heathrow, On the Tube, on a TRAIN to Cambridge, up and down stairs, travel BACK to London, dragging around to the hotel, storage in the hotel, and back to Heathrow on the Tube for travel on the plane home. AND it had more weight in it, since I was gone for two weeks, and to a fest.
*shrugs* thinking of taking the Consumerist track and writing a well thought out email to the company, telling them what happened, and that while I'm paying the repair fee, because I love the bag I still don't understand the whys.
- I need to realize I've only been out of hell for a week, and in that week I've been busy. I have client work to catch up on, stuff to get rid of that will take longer than just a sunny afternoon of throwing stuff off the balcony yelling "I'm free I'm free!" I need to find my balance, and realize a schedule isn't a death sentance (it is when I can't sleep the night before....) I just have to find it in me to stick to it, and maybe that means accepting that on the weekends I'm not getting up before 10, and just work with that.
- THIS weekend though I agreed to work at CPA #2, in order to dig myself out of the financial pothole (this close to the end of the season, I refuse to believe it's a HOLE, just a minor rut) and while I"m in there, I'm just going to take care of STUFF I've been putting off, especially with his resources at my disposal. Specifically the quiet office, where there's no TV, and no roommate and no need to HAVE to do my own stuff staring me in the face. I've faced I just HAVE to do it, and doing it before the Trip is better. I also set up an appointment for a haircut at 8, so I have to be done by 7:30, and since I want to give him at least 5 hours, that means up and moving, although NOT at my usual time. it IS the weekend after all.
- I'm tired of being tired, but I really think I have to hang on, this time til the trip. I need the rest, and the "not work" in order to truly feel better, then just setup "to do" for three months and reevaluate after the summer. What this really means is no working late at the Day Job, putting in hours I agree with myself on for other work, and being able to say "no" and mean it. I need to put in some time for ME, to get my stuff handled, because if I breakdown it's not just me having to deal with that eventuality.
Ok anyway, speaking of that I should be doing some work. I'm waiting on a bunch of stuff, and I'm enjoying a day of weird in the office. I've decided that instead of working on OPP tonight (that's other people's problems) I'm doing so tomorrow, and I've best served working with my OWN stuff tonight, getting things off the old computer, maybe also working on the Old Vaio, prepping it to be a station of some kind, and doing some more purging and cleaning in my room. I have ideas that need to be moved around, and MAYBE I can get some stuff up on FreeCycle, get it out of the house.
There's an email I've been waiting for, here's hoping it doesn't mess up the rest of my day!
