Alive and Kicking
Jan. 12th, 2007 08:10 amIt's been a while. Been distracted.
For some reason I'm awake early, AND willing to get moving. I have a new alarm system that works somewhat, I have a timer on a lamp which shines directly into my eyes around 7AM. It certainly wakes me up some. However, I'm now confronted with the problem that despite being awake, I don't feel like getting up. That's an issue I've yet to address, making me late for work.
As for work, it's the uber suck. Yes, I said uber. It's the end of the year, and while tax season doesn't gear up for a bit yet, the job I have "lets" me do all the bad icky prep work for tax season, then the part time jobs means I then deal with all that compiled info. Ever so much joy. One of my clients is the time suck, and I can't seem to wrap my head around it and buckle down. Which is strange. I'd rather be doing anything else, work wise. But since I have to be doing the other thing, I can't, so Nothing gets done. It's one of those, how do you say, head-fucks? *grins*
Oh right - I know the reason I'm awake - with the portable DVD player I have now, I sprung for DVD drive to make DVDs. Whooo lots of DVD in there. Last night I finally decided to install it, which went smoothly. Like REALLY smoothly. Then I fired it up, which went smoothly, really smoothly. I set up Torchwood with the software included with the drive, did the chapter creation thing, then set to burn. Eight hours later, I have a DVD with 2 eps of Torchwood, that DOES INDEED play on my portable player. I'm waiting for the rest of the Horsemen. Of course it did take 8 hours to render, which I'd forgotten was the price of technology, plus the time to create the chapters. I'm hoping to get a second one started before I leave for work. Next up is Doctor Who, after I read up on DVD technology.
In two weeks by now I'll be in Vegas. I would think I'd have gone by now, yet it hasn't happened. I keep crossing the boy to mingle with silly boys *grins* I'm shocked. Frankly, I"m planning on walking around a bit, seeing the big glittery sites, and drinking fluffy drinkies to excess, with
dredpiratebunny and friends. We're seeing Ka, doing a goth club, going to a strip bar., and I really want to have a look at a few of the normalish clubs. The one in Luxor called Ra sounds hott. With two Ts. We'll see. We're staying at the Tropicana, at a pretty reasonable price.
Once I get back I will probably be knee deep in Tax Season. I've already planned an abbreviated work schedule. I just almost passed out last year from all the working. However it requires adherence to schedule, which has times for me to sleep, to get my own client wok done, to be one place or another at such and such a time. I've lost my ability to do that. I'm thinking this is a great way to get it back. Hopefully there will be a lot of relaxing in Vegas.
I suppose I should go make the pot of coffee for once. Then it's into the shower. Bah.
