Quickie update
Dec. 23rd, 2005 09:52 ambecause I'm in a rare good mood, it is DEAD quiet at work, and even though I didn't have time to make coffee this morning, we're trying out a new coffee company and have samples. Hmmmm, coffee!
Saw The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe last night. Loved it. Want to take my nephew. He's a bit young for the books (being young for his age mentally, and realizing that I myself didn't get to them til 5th grade. He's 9. OK So I read Sherlock Holmes in 4th grade, let's not go there, I was also probably reading at a high school level then too. He Doesn't. Keeping his mind on Harry Potter has been hard, even though he desperately wants to read those. Thinking I should get him the books, in paperback. Anyway.)
Some thoughs, non-spoilery hopefully:
- If I didn't love Tilda Swinton before now (and I did) I DO NOW. *drools* I forsee a costume attempt.
- Mr. Tumnus? AKA Leto Atredies from the Children of Dune Miniseries on SciFi. NOW I know why he looked familar and I had the hots for a fawn.
- I now have yet one more inappropriate crush. Thank YOU IMDB, because in real life Peter (William Moseley) is EIGHTEEN! *breathes sigh of relief in not being a pedophile* I must have known that because despite his hot real name, Edmund (Skandar Keynes - how CUTE is that?) is just a little boy (14)
- I really thought the White Witch's gnome was the same guy from Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (ALL the Oompa Loompas) Turns out instead he's been an Ewok, and one of the Hobbit and Dwarf doubles from LotR. Hrm.
- The voice of the head wolf I thought was familiar but isn't. I haven't watched anything on his list (and it's impressive) of work enough to recognize his voice. Its an Anime thing, I'm having issues with picking out voices. I'm actually going to go back and rewatch some Fushigi Yugi in English ( don't kill me
maudlinkitty!) because one of my new favorite voice has a major role, and I'm interested to hear his take. (Hotohori, for anyone interested. Most recently to me the dubbed voice of Jin on Samurai Champloo. And other stuff. Also a bit disturbing the voice of Nuriko, whom I now recognize ALL over the place. Eeep! Maybe I AM watching too much crappy dubbed anime!)
OK I should get back to work. I DID like the film a lot, and while a rewatching of GoF is first I think I'd like to see it again. AND finally watch the BBC version - maybe there should be a movie night! If I can get myhouse respectable that is.
