I just spent the better part of the afternoon setting up a dial up service for someone I don't even work for. And setting up his email. AND explaining that no, the computer guy does NOT have anything to do with his email or internet access, he's just operating as a mail server.
ARGH!
Seriously, I want hazard pay! Not because it was difficult, not because I had to spend time on the phone with Verizon, not because I had to do it.
But because of two things:
1) the lack of a second laptop, which i should have been pulling info and taking backups from. Boss's husband purchased a new laptop (aftre being expressly forbidden NOT to)and then whines because everything isn't Just So, when he's not providing for the items to be set up.
And
2) the prescence of said husband RIGHT OVER MY SHOULDER. Asking questions. Asking Stupid questions. Writing down temporary passwords, then getting pissy when I say "That isn't your password, I have to change it." getting irritated that because of an email forward he's not getting any email, and we're only DOING all this becuase HE signed up for mailing lists that were harvested and he's getting penis spam now.
ARGH!
He's all set up now, and I even think most everything will work. but I'm not PAID to do this. I have a massive headache from dealing with this guy. This is the reason I DON'T do this kind of work. (I will be paid for working today, I just haven't done any actual ACCOUNTING today. Just computer slag work)
I need a drinkie. I'm coming out tonight, but mostly because Lou is, and I think if he wasn't I'd probably stay home. I'm annoyed and hungry. I can fix the hungry, I don't know if I can fix the annoyed very easily.
