Oh yes, I spent 5 years and $60,000 on my education, so I could diagnose Why the Int0rw3b isn't running.
*ARGH!*

So the office has been having a wee bit of a problem. The internet went out on Wednesday. Usually this means reboot everything that has a plug in it. Which they are NOT ABLE TO HANDLE. So I come in today, and reboot everything with a plug in it. Yet we have no Int0rw3b. OK, call the tech guy, who confirms with me that everything is where and doing what it's supposed to. Then I get told "Well the *isp name* sad they were fine, you might want to call them to make sure." Anyone else laughing here?
So the *Isp name* "pings" our box, and "deletes the MAC address" and Lo and Behold - Int0rw3b. So when they said it wasn't them, they lied. ANYONE ELSE SURPRISED?
Now my problem is the Int0rw3b is SO SLLLLOOOOWWWWW that the boss is still saying "fix it" but now there's nothing I can do. She is complaining about everything. TOP this all off with her charming husband, who signed up for some "free something." So you can IMAGINE the amount of spam we're getting. Oh yes, with her work address since they don't have any others. He gets HER email, then bitches when he has to wade through her work email to get to his golf buddies piece of crap.
So, teh boss is deleting spams, and bitching, and then asking me how to "delete it permanently" I tell her empty trash. Well emptying the trash didn't empty the junk folder. See she's using Netscape, the ONE EFFING THING I never wanted to learn. She won't go to Micr0s0$t stuff, which while sucky, is something I can AT LEAST troubleshoot.
Things look to be moving smoother, but I'm trying to do Windoze updates (on a Win 2000 Machine. because it's "better" than Win XP. I really want to fucking cry. This "expert" is a complete hack.) and it's dragging it's heels. And I'm NOT staying uber late tonight - I have plans with CB.
