Buffy was SO wrong.

And now I'm watching David Letterman.
BRITNEY!
Britney Spears rocks my teenage world.
She just shook her butt in Dave's face.
The look on his face -
Priceless.
Illegal. and priceless

Did I mention the Cruxshadows play later tonight?
*BOING*

*snicker*
Dave: How old will you be next week?
Britney: I'll be 20.
Dave: WHOO Nelly, 20 years old.
*giggle*

So I had this interview set up.
Wait, let me explain.
I have THE perfect setup, jobwise.
One caveat.
I roll in when I please, mostly, they tell me when they need me earlier.
I work, I leave. I get everything done, I have the ability to take time off as necessary.
Most of the year. Right now one boss is on vacation for a month (!) and the other is playing catchup with the work I've already done. Caveat Translation - it's slow.
So I'm feeling out temp agencies, for part time contract work until year end, when Tax Season rears it's ugly head, and I start making money hand over fist, as well as becoming a virtual hermit.

I already have a relationship with one. No good. The last assignment they gave me , in a word, sucked. I felt pressured to take it, I didn't like my boss, HE didn't like me, and made everyone else in the office fear me before I got there. And the temp agency was all like "Well, we'll do what we can." did NOTHING, and made me feel like I was complaining too much (for once, I didn't complain much, I just threatened to quit on a bi weekly basis, that's not complaining that was a fact) Let's not mention the fact that I checked in with them 3 weeks ago, to hear "Oh we JUST had a job that would be perfect, if only you'd come in yesterday." AND that I just saw a post from the SAME corporate office I'm registered with on Monster.com which would be perfect, exactly what I asked for, part time, temp, short term, and did _I_ get a call? No.

So I felt out Monster.com, and a couple of papers online, and found SOME stuff, and put out my resume to a couple of agencies, and got a call for an appointment. Now, I didn't like the guy on the phone, he sounded, disinterested, although it was after I'd told him that I had some constraints. I was honest, I'm only looking for part time, temp, short term. I'm booked for tax season. Rather thoroughly. *shudder* I was going to cancel, but I thought, what else do I have to do today, besides go to the office and put in a time sheet for last week. SO I filled out their online application and went this morning.

I wasn't totally wrong, he had all the personality of a wet noodle. I spent most of the 2 1/2 hours taking tests, stupid data entry and excel tests. Then waited for my interviewer to finish with the older guy ahead of me (who looked like a controller, and if HE'S out of work, it actually scares me a lot more than anything else has lately) I will say that AFTER my tests, they got considerably more excited. I have the work experience, I had almost perfect scores on the tests (who the HELL knows pivot tables in Excel? I don't use graphs let alone pivot friggin tables) He took my info, we talked about my *gag* career goals, and gave me a rather different approach.

While saying, yes he might be able to find me exactly what I want temp job wise but he told me about something else. Basically I'd be a long temp contract employee, hired by the temp agency, on salary, sent out on a longish term temp basis, perhaps traveling to sites for a few days, kept in work in higher end assignments. With my "skill sets" (is that some sort of HR term, Skill sets? I kept looking at him funny) I'd be a "valuable asset".

Whoa. Been a long time since I've been called a "valuable asset".
And the idea of a salary position, with benefits, AND still be able to work with my bosses, AND maybe afford the classes for the Masters program I want. It might be a real, viable, solution for the next couple of years, until I get my CPA and get ready to work in that arena.

Weird. I haven't felt "invested" in my career in a while. Maybe all the slacking HAD a point. heh.

Much thanks to the monkey for talking me into the interview, because I really wasn't going to go.

Whoo Hoo!
