I totally forgot to post about this, but it's over now and they won.

The Partners in Preservation Society was running a contest to decide on a historical site to receive a grant for restoration, and the Carousel in Hull, formerly of Paragon Park, won $100,000!

I'd seen some people wanting the money for buildings and halls and let me tell you - the Carousel needed it more. The horses need major restoration, as does the clock tower.

Paragon Parkand the carousel were really a big part of my growing up years. My grandfather and I went to the park once a week one year - I was working on Skee Ball ticket gathering missions to earn enough for one of my collectors dolls. This was when Skee Ball was a dime, and we'd bowl about $5 between us. (I did indeed get that doll, with plenty to spare. I THINK she's the southern belle doll I have, I have to double check with teh Unit)

Anyway I rode that carousel all the time as a kid and at LEAST once a year now. I contemplated having a birthday party there, and I still am. *grins* My niece needs to get her butt down there for a ride!

Very happy, I voted a couple of times but it was the long running front runner. Wheee!
